HACCP (ISO 22000)
In many countries around the globe, legislation on the safety and suitability of foodstuffs demands the Hazard Analysis
and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Code of Practice to be put in place by any food business or organization, whether
profit-making or not and whether public or private, carrying out any or all of the following activities:
According to Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the hygiene
of foodstuffs, all food business operators in the European Union shall implement HACCP. They shall ensure that adequate
safety procedures are identified, documented, maintained and reviewed on the basis of the principles used to develop the
system of HACCP.
GMP+
(European Certification for HACCP) - The purpose of this Code of Practice is to control the risk of cross-contamination
of animal feeds. Loading sequence, cleaning and disinfection are major control measures to prevent cross contamination.
These control measures with respect to transport sequence, cleaning and disinfection are the result of a generic risk assessment
for the transport of animal feeds. These control measures embody the European implementation of the HACCP Code of Practice
for the transportation of animal feeds.
TASCC
(UK Certification for HACCP) - This Code of Practice includes a set of minimum standards to ensure food/ feed safety which hauliers
must meet when handling and transporting various categories of goods. The list is not exhaustive but includes:
Vehicles must be operated in accordance with this code of practice at all times both within the UK and abroad. The haulier must
at all times exercise due diligence in the care of the goods and be conversant with and observe all relevant legislation. Current
legislation requires food and feed businesses to have procedures based on Risk Assessment or HACCP.
